Liverpool Vs Southampton Preview

The league cup quarter finals puts Liverpool against Southampton on Wednesday evening. Southampton will be looking to bounce back strongly after defeat by Man City at the weekend and become stable after inconsistent form in the league.They have performed well so far in the cup with a comprehensive 6-0 demolition of MK Dons and a decent 2-1 win over Villa.

Liverpool will be looking to win the league cup.Although, a top four finish will be their priority,Liverpool have not won any silverware since 2012 and a cup win would only raise spirits further after the club has been lifted by the appointment of Jurgen Klopp.Liverpool look good value for victory only having suffered 1 defeat under Klopp so far.

With Coutinho rested against Swansea he looks certain to return for the league cup clash.Sturridge and Henderson both made cameos in that game and are likely to start against Southampton to get back to full match fitness.

Pelle missed the visit to the Etihad due to suspension but as Southampton's best forward he will no doubt return in this important game. Fonte however is a doubt after picking up a knee injury against City

With Coutinho's return he will be the player everyone will keep an eye on.He's Liverpool's best player and is in great form, he has the ability to change the course of a game at will.

Score Prediction
Southampton 0-2 Liverpool. Southampton are a good side but with every game under Klopp Liverpool get better.Their lack of incision against Swansea is unlikely to continue with the return of Coutinho. The defence also looks much stronger Liverpool didn't concede a single shot on target against Swansea and look good for a win here.
